Kanbanz Integration

Connect Deskuss with Kanbanz to synchronize your helpdesk tickets with Kanban boards for powerful visual project management.

Included: The Kanbanz integration is included with all Deskuss plans at no additional cost.

What is Kanbanz?

Kanbanz is a WordPress Kanban board plugin designed for project management and task visualization. It allows teams to organize work into boards, columns, and cards — providing a drag-and-drop interface for tracking progress from "To Do" through "In Progress" to "Done."

With Kanbanz, teams can:

Integration Overview

The Deskuss + Kanbanz integration acts as a bridge between your helpdesk ticketing system and your Kanban project boards. When enabled, tickets in Deskuss are automatically linked to cards in Kanbanz — ensuring that every support request is tracked alongside your team's broader project work.

How It Works: The integration creates a two-way connection between Deskuss tickets and Kanbanz cards. Changes made in either system are reflected in the other, keeping both your support team and your project managers on the same page.

Ticket Event Synchronization

When the integration is active, the following ticket events in Deskuss automatically update the corresponding Kanbanz card:

Deskuss EventKanbanz Action
Ticket CreatedA new Kanbanz card is created in the designated board and column
Ticket AssignedThe Kanbanz card is assigned to the corresponding team member
Ticket Status ChangedThe Kanbanz card is moved to the matching column (e.g., Open → "In Progress", Closed → "Done")
Ticket ClosedThe Kanbanz card is moved to the "Done" column and marked as completed
Ticket Priority ChangedThe Kanbanz card label is updated to reflect the new priority

Status Mapping

Deskuss and Kanbanz use different terminology for statuses. The integration maps them as follows by default, and you can customize these mappings in the settings:

Deskuss StatusKanbanz Column (Default)
OpenTo Do
AnsweredIn Progress
ClosedDone
OverdueUrgent / Flagged
Tip: You can customize the column mapping under Deskuss → Settings → Kanbanz Integration. If your Kanbanz board uses custom column names, simply map each Deskuss status to the appropriate column.

Bidirectional Sync

The integration is fully bidirectional — changes flow from Deskuss to Kanbanz and from Kanbanz back to Deskuss.

Deskuss → Kanbanz

Kanbanz → Deskuss

Avoid Conflicts: If a ticket status and its linked Kanbanz card column are changed at the same time, the most recent change takes precedence. To prevent confusion, coordinate with your team and avoid simultaneous status updates from both systems.

How to Enable the Integration

Setting up the Deskuss + Kanbanz integration takes just a few steps:

Creating Kanbanz Tasks from Tickets

In addition to automatic card creation, you can manually push a Deskuss ticket to Kanbanz from the ticket detail view.

How to Create a Kanbanz Card from a Ticket

  1. Open any ticket in the Deskuss ticket detail view
  2. Click the "Create Kanbanz Task" button in the ticket action bar
  3. Choose the target board and column for the new card
  4. Optionally edit the card title and description (defaults to the ticket subject and message)
  5. Click Create to push the card to Kanbanz
Tip: Once a Kanbanz card is created from a ticket, the two are permanently linked. Any subsequent changes to either the ticket or the card will sync automatically based on your integration settings.

Linking an Existing Kanbanz Card

If a Kanbanz card already exists for a ticket, you can link them manually:

  1. Open the ticket detail view in Deskuss
  2. Click the "Link Kanbanz Card" button
  3. Search for the card by title or ID
  4. Select the card to establish the link

Once linked, bidirectional sync begins immediately.

Unified Notification Stream

With the Kanbanz integration enabled, Deskuss consolidates notifications from both systems into a single stream, so your team never misses an update.

How Unified Notifications Work

Notification Settings

Configure unified notifications under Deskuss → Settings → Kanbanz Integration → Notifications:

SettingDefaultDescription
Kanbanz events in DeskussEnabledShow Kanbanz card updates in the Deskuss notification panel
Deskuss events in KanbanzEnabledShow ticket updates in the Kanbanz activity feed
Combined digest emailDisabledSend a single daily digest covering both Deskuss and Kanbanz events
Digest frequencyDailyHow often the combined digest email is sent (Daily, Weekly)
Note: Unified notifications require both plugins to be active. If Kanbanz is deactivated, Deskuss notifications revert to their default behavior (ticket-only events).

Disconnecting the Integration

If you need to stop the sync between Deskuss and Kanbanz:

  1. Go to Deskuss → Settings → Kanbanz Integration
  2. Toggle "Enable Kanbanz Integration" to Off
  3. Click Save Changes
Important: Disabling the integration stops future synchronization but does not delete previously created Kanbanz cards or remove links between existing tickets and cards. To remove the links, you can unlink individual tickets from the ticket detail view or use the bulk "Unlink Kanbanz Cards" option under Deskuss → Tools.
